Frédérique Mocquet

Frédérique Mocquet is an architect and holds a doctorate in architecture from Ensa Paris-Malaquais. She also trained in applied arts and design at the École Nationale Supérieure d'Arts Appliqués et des Métiers d'Art Olivier de Serres (ENSAAMA, Paris).

Her research focuses on photographic representations of the environment, produced and used within the various frameworks of spatial projects, from built objects to large-scale territories. At the crossroads of planning, urbanism and architecture, visual studies, environmental studies, art history and aesthetics, her work takes images as a starting point for questioning their production, function and effects within the project. From a historical, theoretical and operational perspective, she provides information on the imaginations, visual cultures and methods of planning professionals in relation to the notion of landscape, investigated as a perspective for disciplinary renewal.

Frédérique Mocquet defended her doctoral thesis in 2020, entitled "La représentation du territoire en projet. A history of the Observatoire photographique du paysage*, and has since pursued her research within the OCS AUSser, in collaboration with various local authorities, institutions and structures. Her work is regularly communicated and published.

She has been teaching at Ensa Paris-Est since 2016, and is now also co-responsible for the seminar in the Transformation programme, the research intensive master's programme, and is part of the territorial survey workshop in the bachelor's programme. At the end of June 2021, she was awarded a tenure-track position as a lecturer.

Frédérique Mocquet represents the school on the Ensa scientific and educational network 'Perspectives Rurales' (formerly ERPS) alongside Sébastien Marot. She is also an elected member of the Research Commission (CR) and the CPS. She is also an elected member of the Academic Council of the Université Gustave Eiffel.
