Every year, the school opens its doors to the public on the occasion of the Journées nationales de l'architecture, with a rich program of workshops, guided tours, activities and exhibitions for the general public.

For the first time, the school has joined forces with the Compagnons du Devoir to offer lively, fun workshops to raise awareness of the skills, values and trades of stone and roofing.

WORKSHOPS

*Live workshops in stone engraving
A playful discovery of stone engraving supervised by youngsters from the Maison de Compagnons de Champs-sur-Marne.
All ages (from 6 upwards). Free admission, subject to availability*.

*Living Roofing Workshops
Roofers build the envelope of a building to protect it from the elements. Using models, young journeymen will demonstrate the installation of the different materials they work with: aluminum, zinc, slate and tile.

*Stone-cutting workshop
Stonemasons work and transform materials, practicing their art using tracings and a multitude of traditional and contemporary tools. Alongside the live workshops, young Compagnons will be on hand to introduce the general public to the specifics of their craft, and to stage demonstrations of the cutting of simple pieces.

*Trail game
A treasure hunt punctuated by enigmas, surprises and manipulations that appeal to the senses and imagination. This treasure hunt offers families a fun way to discover architectural studies.

*Lego® or magic sand?
Young and old alike are invited to design a house to meet climatic constraints, with a choice of two building materials: Lego® or magic sand.

*Kapla® Challenge
Alone or in a team, take up the challenge of building the tallest residential tower using planks of Landes pine wood. The plans are free, but watch your balance - it can be fatal.

Designed by architect Bernard Tschumi, since its opening in 1999 the school has offered a quality of space conducive to both concentration and exchange. A tour of the school and its workshops in the company of students.

Tour of the Cité Descartes campus Recognized as one of the world's leading city clusters.
Recognized as a sustainable city cluster, the Descartes Campus brings together on a 120-hectare site three grandes écoles and numerous facilities from the architecturally remarkable Gustave Eiffel University.
At 2.30pm and 4pm, duration 45 min, weather permitting. Free admission.

EXHIBITIONS

Restitution of the territorial survey carried out in Geneva by 3rd-year students (in French)
This year's Licence 3 territorial survey was structured around the crossing of Geneva, from the Salève cable car (Maurice Braillard) to the radical 1.6 km-long figure of the Lignon housing project (Georges Addor), via the PAV district.
Over the course of three days, students took a cross-disciplinary look at the Geneva metropolis through walking and linoleum engraving.
The etchings presented in this exhibition represent their collection of reflections on the development of Greater Geneva, taking into account notions of territory - from the natural dynamics of the great landscape to the individual inhabitant.

Archetypes of habitat, work by first-year students The first year is a time of intense learning.
The first year is an intense introduction to architecture, a crucial year in the training of future architects, faced with a growing awareness of the environmental, political, social and economic issues that occupy and preoccupy today's world. Being an architect today actively requires us to redefine the boundaries of the profession in the face of these issues; to do so, it is important to question architecture in innovative, critical and experimental ways, drawing on the substantial components of architectural culture.
This exhibition shows the first two exercises of the semester that has just begun: "Messages/Enclosures", the result of an intensive week in which the construction of a full-scale enclosure in a real site was followed by a survey and its geometric drawing by hand, and "Assemblages/Toits", a 4-week project in which the construction of a 1/20 scale model was the pretext for understanding the functioning and expressive power of different materials and resources.
